There is no new “petrodollar.” Venezuela has little effect on the supply of petroleum. The US may be the world’s largest oil producer, but we are only the 4th largest exporter, only slightly more than #5, Canada. More important, oil is increasingly being bought in non-dollar currencies. We export very little that can’t be gotten elsewhere at a better price and have a huge and growing balance of payments deficit. Monetizing “stablecoins” is not the answer.
