Israel has one of the most advanced intelligence networks on earth. It’s absurd to think that they were taken by surprise by the initial Hamas attack, particularly when several neighboring countries issued warnings of possible imminent terrorist activity beforehand. I believe that this was their Pearl Harbor or 911 – something their government saw as an opportunity to launch a counter attack and finally rid themselves of the “Palestinian problem” once and for all.
As for their support of censorship, it stands to reason that so many Jews would be opposed using the term genocide to refer to anything non-Jew in nature. They’ve milked the phrase for everything it’s worth in order to stifle criticism the world over, and feel they now own it. It’s a perk that they can’t afford to lose. Ultimately, they’ll succeed in shutting down criticism because of the tremendous power they wield, particularly among governments. There are many ways of driving people to their knees using financial means, and Israel is quite familiar with – and capable of implementing – all of them.
