It’s easy for a person who never has been in the military to be big and brave when they’ve never had to face life and death situations.
I hope he sues the hell out of Planet Fitness and that idiot should be named in the suit as well.
There’s very little point in blaming the clueless employee for this. It’s more than obvious that he was given no training whatsoever by the greedy mfers who hired him. Even if they did give him minimal training, they should have monitored him for a period of time to assure that he understood – and was compliant with – that training. He was hired at probably minimum wage, and immediately put on a solo shift so that “management” could quickly fill the vacancy and get back to whatever the hell they prioritize. Once the lawsuit hits them, they’ll figure out what their priorities SHOULD have been, but it’s a little f-ing late at that point. Yet the employee will receive 100% of the blame and get fired, and they’ll continue to run the business the same stupid way.
Despite the criticisms here, this employee wasn’t nearly as bad as I expected him to be, based on the video’s title. He wasn’t loud, verbally abusive, or particularly argumentative. He came off more like a confused young kid trying to wing a situation that he was totally unprepared to deal with. I suspect that he only knew about the no dogs policy and feared for his job if he let anyone slide. I’ve seen countless young kids of ALL races who act the same way. We expect them to act like professionals and have all the answers to every situation, regardless of the fact that they have zero life experience and no one to provide an example for them to follow. I put the blame for this squarely on the shoulders of so-called management.
I have one additional comment related to this video. While I do understand the importance of service animals, this is an area that’s been exploited and abused to a huge extent by the general public. There appears to be nothing required in regard to a license or I.D. for such an animal – they’re not even required to wear anything which would identify them as such (at least not in my state of California). And a business is only allowed to ask them what function the animal has been trained to perform, but no proof of this is required. As a result, countless people are bringing their animals everywhere with them, simply lying about their status knowing that they won’t be required to provide any actual proof whatsoever. This is total insanity. Even handicapped drivers are required to obtain and display a placard when parking in handicap spaces. Yet our spineless, woke lawmakers are afraid of offending – and losing the votes of – the service animal folks simply for asking them to show that they are legitimate. Obviously, my comments are not directed at the customer in this video, but after working in public service for over 35 years, I can say first hand that the abuse is very real, and the current procedure defies common sense.
