I live in The Sierra Nevada Mountains in California, and we regularly see people passing in the opposite lane on relatively short, straight stretches of two lane highways. Sometimes the manuever can be done safely… with distance and a clear view of the road ahead, but sometimes they do it with almost no knowledge of what’s around the bend. I’ve never seen anyone try that on the two laned sections that climb the canyon walls, but I see it regularly on longer stretches of road not beside a canyon. However, I am always impressed and grateful to the EMS folks who come on these accident scenes…as their skills and professional conduct save lives. In 2010 I had a seizure and then unknowingly drove a car 7 miles through the mountains…and off a 200 foot cliif. I was sucked out of the spinning car and tossed down to the canyon floor. I was rescued by a Life Flight Helicopter that lifted me out of the canyon in a basket..and in spite of my badly damaged body….was able to recover fairly well from my injuries. Without those people…I’d be dead. Good for them. The woman who caused the accident needs to find a soul.
